PowerFoyleTM, by the Swedish tech start-up Exeger, is a groundbreaking solar film that can generate power from all light sources, even from very low radiance sources such as lamplight. It is flexible and can be produced in several colors. It can extend battery life and offers complete freedom from the grid for some types of devices. Please read on for more information about this product and its applications…
Now and then in any sector, along comes a product or new method that changes the game radically. Here at Mallick & Ingham, our sector is sustainable, the Green Wave, and the global transition to clean smart energy.
We look for intelligent, productive ways to manage our biosphere and economies so we and the planet don’t choke to death on our species’ own stupidity in another 30 years’ time.
Therefore we were delighted to discover Powerfoyle by Swedish start-up Exeger. Already having secured $56 million in successive funding rounds, and following a 12-year product development phase, Exeger is now in partnership with several flagship companies including (but not limited to) Adidas, Phillips, and 3M.
So what is it then? I hear you asking. Well, put simply, Powerfoyle is a patented, customizable solar cell technology – a slim, formable coating that comes in many colors and will allow any device it is on to charge its batteries from all forms of indoor and outdoor light, even low-level ambient light such as lamplight.
This is quite frankly astounding. Before this, you would have had to carry a solar panel bank or even a wind turbine around to enjoy this kind of recharging for free on the go. Not a good look at the best of times. That’s assuming it was sunny or windy, which is often not the case.
What Powerfoyle does is offer complete autonomy to any low-powered device that does not need to be connected to a cable. It offers greatly increased battery life to more thirsty objects such as mobile phones and completely eliminates the need for disposable batteries.
The product is a non-toxic solar cell that boosts environmental benefits, reduces electronic waste by saving at both ends of the battery production line, and provides energy independence to product users.
It can be added to bags or clothing as an invisible ‘hide tech’ covering and charge items inside. Hybrid integration is a key benefit of this product, with strong implications for industrialization and the wider solar energy market, currently operating on very visible and often low-efficiency panel grids.
Therefore, the potential for Powerfoyle is HUGE. World-changing even, and this has led to it being featured in articles by The Independent, WIRED magazine, and Popular Science.
Exeter aims to reach the lives of a billion people by 2030 with clean energy products featuring Powerfoyle. Even if this claim were to fall short by as much as 50%, that would be 500 million people or twice the population of the USA. However, we think this estimate is conservative. Once this technology is accepted (like the steam train, the Autocar, or telephones), this product niche will explode and continue to be refined.
We believe we are looking at the future of solar power and one of the key solutions to the energy load issues faced by humanity.
So given this to be the case, what does the world of venture capital think of it? Well, they have already spoken with their bank cards to the tune of $56 million, however, what do they get for this?
Exeger is not yet floating any public stock, however, the stock is being allocated privately to investors, allegedly. So those people and companies contributing to the development phases of this product are going to be sitting pretty when the stock does eventually float.
Therefore for those investors reading about Powerfoyle now and thinking I want to know a lot more about this money-making opportunity, we would advise reaching out to the company to enquire further.
